Danielle bought Robert Caro’s Years of Lyndon Johnson for Christmas this year.
There are four books in the set.
Caro is still working on the fifth and final book. I read he’s been working on it since 2011. Fingers crossed he finishes it.
The books are big. I think the shortest is 600 pages with the longest being at or just under 1,000 pages.
I want to read these books and not have them sit on the shelf like other books I’ve bought with plans to read.
So instead of leisurely reading them, I’m setting goals. 50 pages a day.
I’m a moderately fast reader. Reading 50 pages a day is around 45 minutes of reading if I’m focused.
I started reading the first book this month (February). It’s already changed my perception of LBJ (more to come on this later).
I briefly paused my LBJ reading to read:
By reading 50 pages a day, I’ll finish the four LBJ books this year while allowing me to read a few other books such as:
- Jack Carr’s Red Sky Morning (released May 2024)
- Matthew Dicks’ Stories Sell (released June 2024)
