I don’t eat breakfast.
When I visit a friend or family member they ask what I want for breakfast. I always respond with a no and explain that I don’t eat breakfast. This doesn’t sit well with most. They typically proceed to lecture me on the importance of breakfast.
The most popular myth is that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Even with the research done breakfast people still believe in its importance (more on this in a later post).
Framing a problem (or even an event) is important. It controls how others receive it. For example, if I say I don’t eat breakfast people assume I am not healthy. They lecture me on the importance of breakfast.
However, if I state that I don’t eat breakfast because I practice Intermittent Fasting, people accept it. They tend to follow up with questions about Intermittent Fasting. They don’t lecture me on the importance of breakfast. They accept my answer because it’s not a no, it’s a because with a reason.
I find this fascinating.
